Solar power has become a central driver of renewable-energy growth because panels can be deployed at many scales, from a household roof to a vast power plant. The International Energy Agency expects solar to account for most new renewable capacity added this decade. Falling equipment costs, shorter permitting timelines and broad policy support have helped projects multiply across very different markets.
Rapid installation does not automatically mean every unit of electricity can be used. Networks need new transmission lines, flexible demand and storage to manage production that changes with sunlight. In many regions, renewable projects wait in long queues for a grid connection. This bottleneck shifts attention from the price of panels to the less visible work of permits, network planning and market rules. Building generation and building the system around it must proceed together.
