A new outdoor music series near Hoan Kiem Lake is giving Hanoi audiences a different kind of evening. Tan Da Show takes place beneath an old banyan tree at 71 Hang Trong Street. Its second edition, held on 10 October, attracted nearly 2,000 spectators. That was roughly twice the audience for the opening show. Young bands and singers performed music connected with the capital and contemporary life.
The project brings artists closer to the public through conversation and shared singing, rather than performances alone. Its first edition mixed folk influences, a lion dance and digital projections. Organisers now face the challenge of building a loyal audience beyond the first events. A regular schedule, artistic quality and a safe venue will be important. The longer-term ambition is a cultural meeting place where emerging artists can develop.
