Buying a train ticket can be confusing when you arrive in an unfamiliar country. A planned railway on Phu Quoc could make that first journey easier. Sun Group and Visa are studying payments that let passengers tap a card, phone or wearable device at ticket gates. The system would record where each journey starts and ends, then calculate the fare. The proposal is part of preparations for APEC 2027.
Convenient payments are only one part of the plan. The operator of Ho Chi Minh City's first metro line is helping prepare staff and operations. It has recruited 168 employees for the island's railway. Their training will combine classroom work with practical experience over four months. The airport connection is expected to take around 20 minutes, but the payment arrangement is still being studied.
