A large circle of dancers helped open the Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Festival in Lao Cai on 16 October. Exactly 2,026 people joined the Xoe performance, giving the annual celebration a powerful community focus. The programme combined traditional Thai culture with modern stage ideas. Provincial leaders said tourism should develop alongside heritage protection. They also promised support for artisans and efforts to pass traditions to younger generations.
Scheduled from 15 to 21 October, the festival offers more than evening performances. Its programme includes a street parade, a tourism fair and exhibitions of local products and photographs. Other activities across the province include tea events, traditional sports and visits to farming areas. These experiences connect visitors with local communities. The aim is to turn cultural interest into lasting benefits for residents while keeping their traditions alive.
