More than 11,000 runners explored Hanoi at the city's international marathon on 18 October. Participants came from 38 countries and territories, joining local running clubs on four race distances. The longest route passed more than thirty landmarks, combining physical effort with a view of the capital's history. Starting near Hoan Kiem Lake, runners could see other lakes, historic buildings and three major bridges along the full marathon course.
Pham Thi Hong Le retained the women's marathon title, finishing in two hours, forty-seven minutes and fifty-two seconds. She improved her previous event time by just over six minutes. Huynh Anh Khoi also defended his men's title. Along the route, ten cheering stations organised by running clubs encouraged competitors. Besides competitive results, the event promoted community sport and offered visitors another way to experience the city's culture and streets.
