A strange shape in space looks like a symbol from a music book. Scientists call it the Treble Clef. It appears in radio observations, not as music that people can hear. NASA reported new research about it on October 14. Telescopes helped the team look past stars and dust that partly hide this distant object.
The researchers found hot gas and evidence of two groups of galaxies coming together. They think an earlier black-hole event created clouds of fast-moving particles. A later collision may have made these clouds brighter in radio waves again. This is a likely explanation, not a link between space and musical notes. The familiar shape simply helps people describe what they see.
