Da Nang has stopped sightseeing on the Son Tra Peninsula for now. The reason is heavy rain and the risk of landslides and flash floods. The reopening date is not yet known. Very heavy rain fell from the evening of October 7 to the night of October 8. Many roads in the south were badly flooded, under nearly half a meter of water.
The peninsula often has strong winds and sudden storms. Its roads are steep with sharp curves, so they become slippery in the rain. Visitors there should find shelter and leave when it is safe. Son Tra is about 10 kilometers from downtown Da Nang. It is famous for forested mountains, beaches, and sights such as Ban Co Peak.
