The Peninsula Hong Kong has been named the best hotel in the world. The title comes from the 2026 Readers' Choice Awards of Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Two other Asian hotels are in the top ten. The Ritz-Carlton in Kyoto, Japan, is fifth, and Park Hyatt Bangkok is ninth.
The Peninsula first opened its doors in 1928 on the Kowloon waterfront. It has views of Victoria Harbor and a service style long linked with Hong Kong luxury. Afternoon tea in the grand lobby is famous, with live music from a string quartet. Guests can arrive in one of the hotel's 14 Rolls-Royce cars. The awards are now in their 39th year. This year, the awards drew 798,867 votes on hotels, resorts, destinations, and transport.
