China has made the world's largest bullet-train network even bigger. On September 28, it opened four new high-speed lines with a total length of 1,142 kilometers. The lines are designed for top speeds of 250 to 350 kilometers per hour. The longest new section runs 552 kilometers between Xiongan and Shangqiu. The fastest trip between them now takes 2 hours and 27 minutes.
Another line links Harbin and Yichun in the far northeast. This is now China's northernmost high-speed railway. Travel time there drops from about seven hours to under two. China's network already measured 50,400 kilometers at the end of 2025. The country has more than two-thirds of the world's high-speed track. The new lines opened just before the busy National Day holiday, which starts on October 1.
