A lost shark has become a star in South Korea. The animal appeared in September in a waterway in the port city of Busan. It is believed to be a bull shark about 3.5 meters long. Coast guard boats sprayed water to guide it back to the sea. But the shark did not move.
Fans gave it the nickname Bukhangi, after the port. Large crowds now come to see the unusual visitor. Sales of shark-shaped ice cream bars rose nearly 30 percent at nearby stores. The city even elected the shark an honorary ambassador with 91 percent of the vote. A professor said warmer seas may have brought it closer to the coast.
