Phu Quoc, the largest island in Vietnam, is preparing for a special year. In 2027, it will welcome leaders for a big APEC meeting. Vietnam's civil aviation authority has proposed upgrades for the island's airport. The plan, now awaiting approval, adds new parking areas for planes. In total, the airport could hold nearly 90 aircraft at once.
One new parking area will stand in front of Terminal 2. Together with an expanded old area, it will offer about 42 positions. Another area with about 45 positions will be built between two terminals. The plan also adds new taxiways that lead to a repair area. The upgrades must keep the event secure, safe, and smooth.
