Heavy rain turned central Ho Chi Minh City into a river on Wednesday. After more than an hour of rain, several famous streets went under water. Le Loi, Ham Nghi, and the Bui Vien area were all flooded. Office workers waded through the water on their way home. Some foreign tourists even sipped beer in the floodwater.
Traffic quickly backed up on the flooded roads. A local man said long jams form easily whenever these busy streets flood. Water rose nearly halfway up the wheels of many vehicles. The city is in the middle of five days of wet weather. More rain is expected until Friday afternoon.
