Busan is having a truly great year for tourism. South Korea's second-largest city welcomed nearly three million visitors in seven months. That number is 46 percent higher than the same period last year. The city grew much faster than the whole country. Busan may pass four million foreign visitors this year. Last year was the first time the city passed three million.
Where do the visitors come from? Taiwan sent the largest group with 605,000 people. Mainland China followed with 594,000, and Japan sent 340,000. Visitors from the U.S. jumped 78 percent, even without direct flights. Many people also travel to Busan for its famous skin and beauty clinics.
