The European Space Agency, ESA, has shared its favourite pictures of the week. One image shows the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia. A satellite called Sentinel-3 captured the plume, a tall cloud of ash, on 5 September. Another picture shows two new satellites, FLEX and Sentinel-3C, ready for their launch.
The collection also includes a small CubeSat that will help make seas safer. One photo shows the Biomass satellite's view of damaged mangrove forests in the Niger Delta. In another image, teams practise for the coming launch at a control centre. These pictures help people see how Europe studies our planet from space.
