Director-General Khaled El-Enany urged the authorities to investigate the case and bring those responsible to justice. He stressed that such crimes against the press must not go unpunished. The freelance reporter covered organized crime for several local and international news outlets. According to the authorities, he had received threats before he was attacked at his home.
