Strong floods hit Nepal along two big rivers on 26 August 2026. More than 1,000 people died, and many families lost their homes. The water also destroyed about 1,800 hectares of crops, mostly rice fields. Thousands of farm animals died in the disaster. The UN food agency FAO says farming families now need urgent help.
FAO sent teams with animal doctors to the flooded areas within one day. Farmers need new seeds before the next planting season starts. Animals that survived need food and medical care. Mud now covers many fields, so recovery will take time. FAO says quick support can help families grow food and earn money again.
