UNESCO will introduce new tools for managing artificial intelligence at a global forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event runs from 14 to 17 September and will welcome about 8,000 participants. Ministers from around 50 countries are expected to attend. The forum will discuss how AI affects the environment, gender equality, culture, and the mental health of young people.
On 16 September, UNESCO plans to launch three new products. One is an updated method that helps governments measure how ready they are for AI. Another is a report on global trends in AI rules. The third is a toolkit for reducing the environmental cost of AI systems. UNESCO has already worked with 77 countries on national AI policies. The agency says these tools should keep AI fair, sustainable, and respectful of human rights.
