Europe has a new weather satellite in space. Its name is MTG-I2. It flew to space on a big rocket from French Guiana. Only twelve days after launch, it reached its final home, about 36,000 km above the Earth. It joins two sister satellites that are already working there. Together they make a full family of weather satellites.
The satellite will watch clouds and storms from high above. Its pictures will help make better weather forecasts for Europe and North Africa. A team of forty people supported the satellite during its journey. Engineers will now test the satellite carefully. After the tests, it can start its real job.
