More than 30 young people from different parts of Mexico met to explore how data can support community action. The United Nations system and Mexico's statistics agency, INEGI, organized the event around International Youth Day. Participants discussed access to statistical and geographic information and suggested ways to make it easier to use.
The meeting also introduced the educational platform Datos en Acción, created by INEGI with UNESCO. Since its 2025 launch, the platform has received more than 82,000 visits. It helps young people access, interpret, produce and use data connected to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These skills can support citizen science, community service, social businesses and evidence-based technology projects. Organizers said critical data use can strengthen participation, employability and safe navigation of digital spaces.
