NASA’s Roman space telescope reached the SpaceX hangar at Launch Complex 39A in Florida on 25 August 2026. It travelled overnight inside the Falcon Heavy payload fairing from the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility. Support vehicles moved with Roman, while teams monitored the journey. Engineers planned to attach the telescope to the Falcon Heavy rocket before launch.
Officials will hold a launch readiness review on 28 August. Liftoff is scheduled for 7:26 a.m. on 30 August 2026. In space, Roman will study dark energy and dark matter. Scientists use these terms for two major parts of the universe that are difficult to observe directly. The telescope will also explore planets outside our solar system and distant galaxies. Its scientific work will begin after launch.
