UNESCO will host a global science conference in Paris from 15 to 17 July 2026. Ministers, scientists, business leaders and civil society groups will attend in person and online. The meeting is the first major review of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development, a ten-year UNESCO plan. Organisers say it should help science and government policy move in the same direction.
During the event, UNESCO will publish new reports. One report says the scientific community has backed nearly 400 initiatives in 79 countries. It also says USD 50 million was mobilised over the past two years. Another report examines how 81 governments are applying UNESCO's advice on open science. Open science means research results that anyone can read and use freely. A photo exhibition will also present eleven young researchers.
