Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training has issued a new framework for teaching artificial intelligence in schools. Each class will receive 12 periods of AI lessons every academic year. The content covers four areas: human-centred thinking, AI ethics, AI techniques and applications, and AI system design. Ethics means the rules for right and wrong behaviour. Officials want students to use AI safely and responsibly.
Primary pupils will try simple AI applications and learn about personal data protection. Lower secondary students will use AI tools to make digital products and solve learning problems. At upper secondary level, students will design and improve simple AI tools through projects. Schools may also offer extra clubs, projects and research beyond the 12 core periods. The ministry says the topics must not create excessive pressure for students.
