Vietnam and India celebrated their growing friendship on August 18. Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung attended a reception in Hanoi marking India's 80th Independence Day. He praised India's achievements in becoming one of the world's leading economies. Minister Trung noted that trade between the two countries has doubled in the past ten years. The partnership continues to strengthen across many sectors.
This year marks ten years since the nations became comprehensive strategic partners. In May 2026, they upgraded their relationship during President To Lam's visit to India. Both countries share similar development goals. Vietnam aims to become a high-income nation by 2045, while India is working toward prosperity by 2047. The two sides want to turn political commitments into concrete cooperation programs that benefit their people.
