Paris is famous for its beautiful streets and cafés. But when summer heatwaves arrive, life changes. The temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius. People wake up very early, before 10 a.m., to avoid the worst heat. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., many stay indoors. They come out again after 9 p.m. when it is cooler.
The metro becomes very hot in summer. Parisians look for cool places like museums and parks. Many wear light linen clothes. On weekends, some people leave the city to find forests and rivers. But not everyone can escape. Paris is now planting more trees and painting rooftops white to help fight the heat.
