Hurricane Lala hit Hawaii in August 2026. The big storm brought very heavy rain to the islands. Some places got more than 40 inches of rain. The strong winds knocked down trees and broke bridges. Many homes lost power because of the storm. The Island of Hawaii was lucky because the hurricane did not hit it directly.
Lala was a category 1 hurricane on August 15. The next day, it became weaker. More than 220,000 people had no electricity on August 16. Scientists say this year has many storms in the Pacific Ocean. This happens because of El Niño. El Niño makes the ocean water warmer.
