Fourteen African countries promised over 45 million dollars to the World Health Organization in 2024. This happened at a big health meeting in August. The countries wanted to help WHO do its important work around the world. Many other organizations and foundations also promised to give money. This was WHO's first Investment Round.
WHO needs the money to help countries stay healthy and fight diseases. The money will support WHO's work for the next four years. Dr Tedros is the leader of WHO. He thanked all the African countries for their support. He said a strong WHO can better protect everyone's health around the world.
