The Qatar Fund for Development agreed to give WHO 4 million dollars. The money will help WHO carry out health programs worldwide. This flexible funding allows WHO to respond quickly when health emergencies happen. The agreement was signed before the World Health Assembly in May 2024. Qatar's support shows its commitment to health, especially in a crisis.
WHO Director-General Dr Tedros thanked Qatar for this partnership. He explained that flexible funds are critical for WHO's life-saving work because they can be used wherever needs are greatest. The money will support WHO's work on diseases, health systems, and lifelong care. Sultan Ahmed Al-Aseeri from Qatar said the goal is to empower communities and leave no one behind. This cooperation is seen as a model for how countries can work together on global health challenges.
